West HQ is a landmark 9-hectare destination for entertainment, fitness, lifestyle and accommodation located in Western Sydney.

Beginning life as the Rooty Hill RSL Club in 1964, the venue has now expanded to include world-class gym and fitness facilities, fine and casual dining venues, cafes, bars, Sydney Novotel and numerous entertainment options. Opening to the public in December 2019, the impressive venue now has 60,000 members.

New kid on the block

The Opera House, the State Theatre and the Sydney Lyric have long been considered the premium entertainment hubs in Sydney, but now there’s a new kid on the block that is equally as impressive – Sydney Coliseum Theatre in Rooty Hill’s West HQ.

Breathtakingly beautiful and technically brilliant The Sydney Coliseum Theatre in West HQ features striking architecture and exquisite interiors. It is the first of its kind in the rapidly growing region of Greater Western Sydney, and features dance, music, theatre, opera, film, comedy and more. With a 2000 seat auditorium, three stunning foyers, seven bars, multiple entertaining areas, a VIP room, a large rehearsal room and an on-site commercial kitchen, Sydney Coliseum Theatre can accommodate theatrical performances, corporate events, conferences and more.

Its opening season featured Aussie favourites Keith Urban, David Campbell, Dame Edna Everage, Tina Arena and John Butler alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Recently, rock legend Jimmy Barnes was the headline act alongside his family in a music show that brought the house down. It was the show to kick off Great Southern Nights 2022 – an initiative that throughout March and April this year aimed at supporting the live music industry and getting gigs back into NSW communities.

Chu by China Doll

There are eight dining destinations within West HQ, including Chu Restaurant by China Doll from award-winning restaurateur, Steve Anastasiou – just across from the Sydney Coliseum Theatre. The 200-seater restaurant’s decor merges 1940s Shanghai glamour with modern gold, brass, marble and luxury velour finishes. With generous portions and bold flavours, the dishes are perfect for sharing with family, friends or colleagues for casual lunch, fine-dining or special event.

The menu is spearheaded by the China Group’s Executive Chefs’ Frank Shek and Kristian Vale supporting newly appointed Head Chef, Giseung Kim. Showcasing premium and ethically sourced produce, the menu presents a modern take on culinary traditions from China, Hong Kong, Japan and South East Asia.

Don’t miss out on China Doll’s signature lemon chicken dish: a zesty classic updated for the 21st century with fresh lemon juice, yuzu juice and rice vinegar. Meanwhile, the pork belly with chilli caramel and nam pla will have your tastebuds dancing.

Chu is open on Friday and Saturday nights, and has a dedicated day of traditional and contemporary Yum Cha on Sundays.
