Sydney is bursting at the seams with dogs. Walk down any street and you’re likely to have spotted (or patted) a shaggy head or three.
With so many of our canine companions joining us out and about, here are some of the top dog-friendly venues in Sydney that you can take your pooch along to. Some even have a designated doggy menu.
Cafe Bones, Leichhardt
At Cafe Bones, the experience is all about the dog. The menu includes coffee and breakfast and lunch items for owners, while also offering its very own menu for pets. From pupaccinos (cafe-style beverages) to pupffins (muffins) to kangaroo and crocodile, this establishment is a wonderland of food for your furry friend. It’s also a great place to exercise your dog. Be sure to check out this doggy heaven in Leichhardt!
The Grounds of Alexandria, Alexandria
A classic venue on the Sydney brunch scene, The Grounds has plenty of green space and outdoor areas for you and your four-legged friend. Dogs on leads are welcome in the garden and on the cafe terrace (but not inside), so it always pays to ring ahead to secure a table.
Marrickville Market, Marrickville
The best markets in the Inner West, Marrickville Market is an open-air farmers’ market offering gourmet food and organic produce every Sunday. And best of all, they’re dog friendly! Bring your furry friend and prepare to be amazed by all of the vendors, ranging from fashion and jewelry to freshly baked bread.
The Carrington, Surry Hills
Located in Surry Hills – and possibly one of the most well-known dog-friendly venues in Sydney – The Carrington is an absolute doggy institution. Boasting indoor and outdoor dog-friendly spaces and a menu just for dogs with brown rice and veggies, steak and veggies, beef tartare or even pupcakes, this is a relaxed and cosy place to people-and-pup watch.
Porch and Parlour, Bondi Beach
On the north side of Bondi Beach, Porch and Parlour is the perfect spot for you and your pooch to grab some brunch, catch beautiful ocean views and watch the world go by.
The Grifter Brewing Co, Marrickville
Check out one of Marrickville’s best breweries Grifter Brewing Co with your best friend in tow. Try some of the city’s finest craft beer and wash it down with a few slices of pizza.
Manly Spirits Distilling Co Tasting Bar, Manly
Across the bridge, Manly Spirits brings handcrafted Australian spirits to the northern beaches. This cool spot is chic, breezy and open four nights a week – Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There’s no need to leave Fido at home on your night out!
The Courthouse Hotel, Newtown
A friendly and bustling pub in the hip suburb of Newtown, dogs are always encouraged at The Courthouse, also known as The Courty. The large courtyard and beer garden mean there’s plenty of room for all our furry friends. Not to mention it backs onto Camperdown Park, a well-attended dog park hotspot.
The Neutral Bay Club, Neutral Bay
What could be better than having a beer and game of bowls in a 140-year-old club? Bringing your dog along of course! The Neutral Bay Club is an oasis in the north, with tennis, a bowling green, regular weekly specials, activities and fun for all ages. They even have special “pooch parking” in their new seating area.
