Swim in stunning waters at Paluma Range

Paluma Range National Park offers more than just a rainforest – it’s also a prime spot for swimming. It’s chockers with natural, crystal-clear swim spots, such as the Little Crystal Creek and Big Crystal Creek. These creeks are the perfect places for a dip in the summer. They also have gorgeous picnic spots, so bring your favourite meal or snacks and sit back, relax, and prepare to enjoy the beautiful views.

While visiting, be sure to check out the Jourama Falls, a picturesque spot to walk, bird watch, or even camp. With so many experiences to choose from, this forest could be a multi-day trip.

Take a day trip to Cedar Creek Falls

Located in the well-known Whitsundays, Cedar Creek Falls is a lovely juxtaposition from the white-sand beaches and clear blue waters of the more popular beaches.

Even the ride to the falls is superbly scenic, with views of verdant landscapes along the way; it’s no wonder this is one of the top rainforest experiences in Queensland.

Cedar Creek Falls is hidden behind many trees and rocks and is another great spot for a swim.  As its name suggests, it’s surrounded by cedar trees, and as it is just a short walk from the parking area, it’s a great place to bring the family and those who don’t like too much of a hike.

If you are looking out for wildlife, these falls are bustling with birds, butterflies, and so much beautiful flora and fauna. Don’t forget to bring insect repellent!

Tap into your inner art-lover at Mount Glorious

Mount Glorious, which is about 45 minutes northwest of Brisbane, is filled with tall trees and tropical birds. It’s a hilltop that features several small cafes, barbecue areas, and lovely walking trails. It’s situated in the D’Aguilar Range, which is home to remote gorges and clusters of subtropical rainforests.

Mount Glorious is also a wonderful place for art-lovers; it’s home to an extensive marble, onyx, and bronze sculpture garden. These sculptures are located on the peak of the mountain, which is 632 metres above sea level. 

If you’re looking for a weekend getaway, look no further. In and near Mount Glorious there are cosy cottages, rainforest chalets, and charming bed and breakfasts to choose from.

Walk your way through Finch Hatton Gorge

Finch Hatton Gorge is in Eungella National Park and is just a day trip away from Mackay. It has volcanic boulder formations and contains multiple walking paths that take you throughout the rainforest. It also has several beautiful waterfalls, making it another ideal swimming destination. Be sure to embark on the 1.6 kilometer walk to the Araluen Waterfall, as you won’t want to miss this secluded cascade. And take a picnic as its a lovely spot for a bite to eat and a cool bevvie while lying on some rocks in the sun.

Some unique wildlife to look out for include the orange-sided skink, Mackay tulip oak, and the gastric brooding frog. And if you are in search of an extra thrilling adventure, you can go ziplining in Finch Hatton Gorge. It’s a great way to experience the beautiful sights from above.

Kayak through the Noosa Everglades in Noosa National Park

Home to one of the only two everglades systems in the world, and more than 40 per cent of Australia’s bird species, Noosa Everglades is a 60-kilometre stretch of narrow waterways, tons of wildlife, and scented tea tree forests. In fact, the waters are so clear and calm that Noosa Everglades has earned the nickname of ‘river of mirrors.’

Make sure to book either a guided canoe tour or a river cruise, and then you can kick back and can check out the beautiful sights while learning from local experts from the area. These parts are also great for kayaking, sailing, kite surfing, or paddling. 

This must-see destination is accessible from both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
