Albury-Wodonga: Hotels & Restaurants

A plate of food in Albury-Wodonga

Culture, creativity and country cool: that’s Albury-Wodonga for you. These days it’s far removed from just a Hume Highway stopover on the way to somewhere else, with many attractions enticing visitors to linger.

Straddling the meandering Murray River, on the border of NSW and Victoria, the twin cities of Albury-Wodonga are a gourmet goldmine, cultural hub and water lovers’ playground, with wineries and snowfields nearby.

The energy-charged Flying Fruit Fly Circus, where ordinary kids do extraordinary things, HotHouse Theatre – which stages dynamic productions – and the impressive Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) call it home.

For a look back in time, the Bonegilla Migrant Experience provides an evocative interpretation of what camp life was like for the 300,000 migrants who lived there between 1947 and 1971.

Love the water? Then head to Lake Hume or the Murray for fun water sports activities, and make sure you pack your bike or hire one to discover the 50km of cycling trails. Albury-Wodonga is a perfect country escape.
