The New Year’s Eve countdown has begun, meaning it is time to start planning how you’ll be spending the last night of 2024.
Whether you’re celebrating with family or friends, these NYE events throughout Western Australia will have you dancing and singing your way into the next year. Don’t forget to check out the fireworks too!
Elizabeth Quay fireworks
Head down to Elizabeth Quay for a night of amusement rides, carnival games, food vendors and roving entertainers. For those with kids, the family-friendly fireworks will light up the sky at 8:30pm. And, for the first time ever, a midnight fireworks display is set to bring in 2025 in style.
Make sure to check out the snow-covered Christmas trees and Christmas Lights trail while at this iconic Perth location as well. Entry is free, but it’s bound to fill up early.
A five minute walk from the Quay, Supreme Court Gardens will be hosting the Freedom Time Festival for those looking to dance the night away. The lineup of international artists includes Zjoso, Moxie, Wishful Thinking, and more. With four stages to choose from, and a bar keeping the drinks flowing, this open-air dance music festival will have you celebrating everything that makes the new year special.
Snack Festival
Western Australia’s biggest New Year’s Eve festival is back for another exciting year. Head to Claremont Showgrounds in Perth for a lineup of more than 40 DJs playing across 7 stages all night long.
With a silent disco, rides, sideshow games, cocktail bar and food trucks also on offer, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Make sure to stop by the karaoke booth to sing your heart out along the way, and peruse the merch stand for gear from all your favourite performers.
Each stage embodies a different exciting theme, meaning you can mix and match to suit your mood. The Boombox is the 40 metre wide main stage with fire displays and lights. For a cooler experience, check out the ski-themed Snow Park stage for throwback hits from the 90s and 00s. It also includes a massive foam party! For hip hop and RnB lovers, Old Town Saloon is for you.
Other highlights include a bucking bull rodeo, 11 bars and beer gardens, tattoo parlour and roving entertainment.
Rottnest Island family fireworks
Spend a relaxing morning exploring the natural beauty of Rottnest Island, before the town comes alive with family-friendly entertainment as the sun sets. Finally, enjoy the free fireworks display lighting up the sky over Thomson Bay at 8pm. Families are sure to be delighted by this welcoming event for all.
The exciting program of activities includes a traditional dance performance and workshop by Njalak Nidja, who bring Dreamtime stories to life on stage. There will also be a circus game show, where children are invited to help the performers navigate a whacky adventure, and a circus workshop where kids can learn to use circus props with professional guidance.
Making use of South Thomson Beach, Gecko Sports will be running activities on the sand, including Ninja Warrior challenges and obstacle courses. If your little ones are tired after all that running around, they can test their creative skills in a sandcastle building competition.
Port Beach Festival
The annual sell-out festival is back for another New Year’s Eve on the beach. Enjoy four massive stages, six pop-up bars, a beach lounge, and so much more. And, of course, it wouldn’t be the Port Beach Festival without sunset views across the water.
Grab your friends and head out for a night of beach-themed fun. DJs will grace the Boat Club until late, while the silent disco will also be running for those after a different vibe. Don’t forget to check out the food trucks for classic festival eats, and bring the ones you love to the NYE countdown.
Esperance NYE Festival
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Esperance, this year’s NYE Festival promises to be an unforgettable night of live music, markets, games and more. From 2pm onwards, visitors can expect a range of delicious food vendors, lawn games, and a merry-go-round for the kids.
Then, DJs and performers will light up the stage as Esperance gets into the 2025 spirit, before an incredible laser show brings a burst of colour to the sky at 9pm. The entire event is family friendly, and entry is free.
