Fremantle Markets – delicious and easy
Founded in 1897, the Fremantle Markets have long been defining the port city’s food culture. Every weekend from 9am to 6pm, locals sell their produce for cheap prices in the grand Victorian building overlooking Henderson Street. From ethnic to organic food – the little stalls and fooderies have it all. Insider tips are Eggspot for the best brioche sandwiches in town, or Black Cherries Espresso, if you fancy one of the most delicious coffees that Fremantle has to offer.
Komatsu – simple Japanese
Komatsu started out as one of many stalls at the Fremantle Markets, but became so popular, that the owners shortly decided to open a restaurant around the corner. Ramen, Soba and Udon noodles. The concept is simple and yet so successful. With its delicious and affordable dishes, Komatsu certainly wears the crown of Japanese cuisine in Perth.
Little Creatures Brewery – backyard beers
At this point, probably everyone in Australia has heard the name Little Creatures at least once in their life. Visit the brewery that wanted to create the perfect pale ale on the port-side. Enjoy a cold beer with pizza, nachos or various other dishes on its backyard overlooking Fremantle’s harbour and book a brewery tour and beer tasting to get the full Little Creatures experience.
Char Char Restaurant and Bar – steaks and seafood with style

The 5-star experienced chefs prepare affordable meals with spices imported right from India and cook a whole all-you-can-eat buffet every Friday and Saturday. Immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere in the cosy venue that is open every night of the week.
Old Courthouse – historical venue, modern menu
The Old Courthouse has been through quite a lot of changes. Originally home to the police station, accommodation buildings, the artillery drill hall, and the lock-up, it was reopened in 2021 as a restaurant, bar and venue for events. While completely renovated, the Courthouse has kept a lot of its original elements. Walk through the old courtrooms and the holding cell for one of the most engaged history lessons you’ll ever had. Then, when it’s time to eat, choose from a menu featuring modern food like pizza and burgers, but also extravagant dishes like kangaroo skewers. Enjoy a drink or two at the bar or stay for one of the many events that take place here every week, like disco nights or concerts.
La Sosta – Italian indulgence
For a long time, La Sosta has been one of the top Italian eateries in Perth and beyond. Opened and managed by an Italian family, you can be sure to get the finest and most authentic North Italian food here. With wines imported from Italy and hand-made pasta, you can never go wrong with dinner at La Sosta.
La Cabaña – modern Mexican
At La Cabaña, Mexican cuisine meets Western Australian produce. The South Fremantle based restaurant serves everything from tacos to salads in a bohemian-style venue. Enjoy a laid-back lunch or dinner on the shady patio and taste your way through the cocktail menu.
