Four-day celebration at Nannup Music Festival

The 37th Nannup Music Festival brings four days of live music, culture, great food and natural beauty to WA’s forested South West.

The quiet forested town of Nannup comes to life every Labour Day weekend with the sights and sounds of the Nannup Music Festival. In 2026, from 27 February to 2 March, this beloved festival will return for its 37th year.

Tucked away in WA’s South West on the banks of the Blackwood River, the Nannup Music Festival is a four-day celebration of live music, local emerging artists, culture, and incredible food. Set against a stunning forest backdrop, this festival is simply one that can’t be missed.

The festival is run and supported by hundreds of volunteers, and has over 3000 visitors over the course of the weekend.

A celebration of music and culture

Since its beginnings in 1990, Nannup Music Festival has championed emerging and Indigenous musicians. It aims to create an intimate festival experience, creating long-lasting memories for visitors who attend the diverse program of new talent and old favourites, all while surrounded by forest and river scenery.

Over four days, visitors can explore eight stages featuring more than 100 acts. Special programs include the Emerging Artists Award, where ten artists are selected to perform two original songs each for the chance to win recording time with a professional in the studio, and the Remote Aboriginal Artist Development Program, where one remote community band is invited to perform at the festival and partake in professional mentoring with curated experts.

Both programs reflect the festival’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and celebrating diversity.

Confirmed stars include A Few Simple Rules, A.C. Saunders, Anna Schneider, Hello Stranger, Clare Perrott, as well as Nathan Cavaleri, Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse.

The festival welcomes music-lovers of all ages, with specially-designed programs for the young and young at heart. The Student Showcase invites local music students to perform in front of a safe and supportive crowd, encouraging them to hone their skills and continue to evolve as musicians.

Children under 12 can attend the festival for free, with roving street performers, sand sculptures, mandala making, and face painting available for the entire weekend. There is also a dedicated kids area and playground, where a range of activities will keep little ones entertained. For the musically inclined, busking spots will be set up around the festival grounds for children to have a go performing.

Nannup sees hundreds of music lovers every year, and won the National Live Music Awards Best Live Event in WA twice- first in 2018, then in 2023.

Beyond the music

Part of the allure of this exciting festival is its setting, where small town charm and forest surroundings combine for an intimate feel.

Those travelling from across the country can purchase camping tickets along with festival tickets, and pitch a tent on the Nannup Golf Course. Parking is allowed on the campsite, and you can even bring a gas cooker for warm meals.

The Nannup District High School and Nomadika will also be offering glamping accomodation. Each ticket comes with a full weekend festival pass, foam bed, carpet, lantern, linen bedding, and permanent toilets and showers. It’s the perfect way to stay close to the action while embracing the small comforts.

If you’re looking for a more luxurious stay, the town itself provides charming accommodation options. The historic Nannup Hotel, located in town since 1899, offers pub-style rooms with shared facilities and self-contained units. Travellers should make use of the cosy bar and relaxed beer garden, where hearty pub food and cold drinks await. Another option is Holberry House, which is situated on four acres of open gardens and parkland in the centre of town. Choose from one of seven comfortable guest rooms, each decorated in a romantic and antique country style.

When it comes to dining, a variety of food and drink vendors will be serving delicious meals on the festival grounds all weekend long (don’t worry, festival and artist merchandise will also be for sale).

For those after a bite to eat in town, Blackwood Cafe offers classic brunch dishes in an outdoor garden setting, renowned for its delicious coffee. Nannup Brewing Co is another favourite, a small micro-brewery serving cold beers and scenic views of Nannup’s natural wonders. Stop by to savour the full range of beers, and grab a bite to eat.

Getting to Nannup is part of the adventure. Located about three hours from Perth, the drive offers scenic views of forests and farmland.
